This very special ID21 Break -67 was ordered by the fire department in a small village in southern Sweden called Smedstorp. The local Citroën dealer “Åke Persson Bil” delivered the car in August 1967 and the officer of the fire brigade took charge of the car.
It stayed at the fire brigade until 1986 when it was sold to a man who was driving it regularly until 1995, when he got some issues with the engine. Since then it was stored until his son and his grandson started to restore the ID a couple of years ago.
Since the fire brigade during the years had been driving very few kilometers and taken very well care of the car, as did the owner afterwards, it was very little corrosion on the car so only a few places needed to be welded.
The engine has been completely rebuilt, the gearbox has been revised and all hydraulic pipelines have been exchanged.
As an extra addition an extremely rare Jaeger dashboard has been installed as well. Five new Michelin tires have been mounted.
The interior is original except for the front seats and the dashboard. When delivered the car had a front sofa, which was immediately exchanged to front seats from a Simca after requests from the fire brigade officer. When bought from the fire brigade, two original seats with same colour from a similar ID were installed.
The condition of this ID Break is extraordinary! Definitely a class 1 car.
It’s very hard to find a Break of -67 model year and it’s very rare with the 2.1 litre engine. In this condition, with a known history, extra headlamps from original, a special ID Jaeger dashboard, it is an extremely interesting car.
This is really a special and rare opportunity!
